Hi guys! Just to let you know that once again we'll be having a raffle over the Gathering. Two half-price tickets and one free tickets to the Ancalime's Heirs campaign event are on offer, and the proceeds go to the faction. We'll probably draw the raffle at the final muster. :)

We're pleased to announce that in a bold attempt to get ourselves into the Century of the Fruitbat, the Unicorn Faction has a new website. This is an interim measure whilst the pretty one is updated by people more technical than me. For now, all your Unicorn Needs can be met by visiting the below site. http://unicornfaction.webs.com/

To try to keep us all on the same page, here's a list of Stuff What Happened In Your Region during uptime at events. This is not downtime and is here because I can't always remember who lives where.
What's happening in Mauritanja?
Naga have attacked Talcontar. Coming in from the transport circle in waves they slaughtered the watch and militia who tried to defend the city, but this managed to give some of the more vulnerable people time to barricade themselves inside houses and cellars. Many took refuge in the castle, where the gates were shut only when the Naga got very close. Unused to fighting in cities, and clearly on a raid rather than a siege, the Naga withdrew. Those who survived the devastation report that some of the Naga were chanting over the bodies, and it is believed that many of the patterns were dedicated to Shal-dak'ra instead of going where they belong. Estimates put the dead at around some twenty percent of the population, mainly those of fighting age but also the slow and unfortunate.
The survivors were given refuge by the Ghostwalkers before many were taken to the Shipyard Isle refugee camp, held in readiness for emergencies by the Pirata Venator. LifeMaster John Tapper of the Healers Guild has sent supplies of food and medicines, as well as healers, from the Healers Guildhouses across Mauritanja, as many are located in fertile arable regions and keep stock for such contingencies. Work had begun on cleaning and repairing the city of Talcontar, headed up by the Stagecoaches, and it is hoped that many will be able to return before the midwinter.
Castle Leonia is by now mostly repaired from the damages caused by the Orcs. Whilst a large amount of the population chose to follow House Carrikk to Lantia, the community is now beginning to grow again. The loss of the cattle herds held by House Carrikk has caused something of a shortage of beef and hides across Mauritanja, and prices have risen.
The efforts of the Gryphon navy and privately held Unicorn ships removed the stranded celebrants of the Grand Erdrejan Fayre from North Star. Since then the Chaos taint on the land has caused massive magical and natural storms around the island. Tarvan and Marianna are of the opinion that no ship could get close to the island at present, but the Watchers report that the circle is now active again.
Work progresses on the new Guild House being built in memory of LifeMaster Carabas's sad and unfortunate demise by "friendly blades".
Those who had been lost when Tirian went into the Void have not returned. However, the circles have stabilised, and the strong winds which had surrounded the island have abated, meaning that the island is approachable by magic and sea. (Further update to follow once I've spoken with a couple of people)

Bookings closed for the Unicorn event, and event packs are now out.
If there is anyone planning on arriving on the gate, please Leanne know by emailing jubbles81 @ hotmail.com, or calling the number on the booking form. It is a prebook only event unless prior arrangements are made. We can possibly still get you in for meal tickets but dietary requirements can not be considered from this point on.
The pre-published menu on caterporium will be changing slightly but keep an eye out here or on the website for more updateshttp://www.caterporium.com/calendar/index.php?page=Written+in+the+Stars
The event pack can be downloaded from http://www.unicornfaction.org.uk/Return%20Pack.doc
Very many thanks to Leanne for continuing to do the not inconsiderable amounts of work that make an event happen even after she was no longer an NPC.
The attendees list may be found below the cut.
We look forwards to seeing you all there.

What do Zombies, Charity and Paintball Guns have in common?
They all feature in an event that some friends and I are planning for summer 2012 (or possibly 2011 if the planning goes really well)!
Basically, the idea is that we hold a day-long charity event which is essentially a zombie survival training day. We intend for the event to be fully immersive (think of it this way - we want to give you the chance to participate in your very own zombie apocalypse adventure!), with the morning being largely taken up by seminars, presentations and demonstrations of zombie survival techniques and the afternoon/evening being dedicated to a paintballing event.
We've not finalised anything in terms of charities, but we're hoping to support one (or possibly two) out of The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, Teenage Cancer Trust and Children with Leukaemia. If any of you have any other suggestions for charities you'd like to see considered then please let us know, but we can't promise that your charity will be one of those chosen.
What we're looking for at the moment is simply an expression of interest... essentially, we want to know how many people we're likely to be running the event for - after all, we don't want to be having to turn people away! We'd also like to know how much you think you'd be willing to pay for it (bearing in mind that it's a charity event).
We're also looking to largely use LARPers as our zombies (there will be various different types of zombies and will probably even be some proper NPC roles available, but the majority of our crew will just be zombies of one variety or another) and would like to know how many people would be interested in monstering rather than playing. Monsters would (hopefully) get reductions on food prices and free camping if they needed to stay overnight. They'd also get free entry to the event, although obviously any donations would be appreciated!
Edit: After a bit of early research into venues, it's looking increasingly possible that we might use an airsoft site rather than paintball.
Edit 2: Currently proposed location is Peterborough, at an urban assault airsoft site.

Leanne just let me know that we don't presently have enough bookings to hold an event in March. Please get those booking forms in, pass the word round and tell all your mates! We as a faction stand to lose out if we don't run as sites, not unreasonably, require a non-returnable deposit. That's money we're not able to spend on kit, props, and more events.
If you're having trouble paying, lack a cheque book or the like, please get in touch with Leanne and she will be able to arrange a workaround. You can get a form from the link below, and Leanne's details are on there if you need to get in touch with her. http://www.unicornfaction.org.uk/BookingForm.pdf

Unicorns Winter Event 06-08 November 2009
Unicorns Winter Event "BLACK SHADOW FALLING" 06-08 November 2009. Giants Seat Camp site, Radcliffe, Manchester
Monsters wanted, Players wanted...
Flyer can be found here: http://www.unicornfaction.org.uk/BookingForm.pdf
"Smoke rises from Mydrinn Vale. Castle Leonia been destroyed. Orcs roam freely across our lands, looting and pillaging. The mysterious senator "Lord Drak" is unmasked as the Drakling, an enemy of Mauritanja. How he has united the Darkwood Orcs is not important. What is important is that he be destroyed and his warband scattered. Our people cry out for protection. Our dead cry out for vengeance. The Unicorn faction calls all its allies to assist in the defence of Mydrinn Vale. Together we will wipe out these foul creatures and make the Vale and the Darkwood safe once more.
One people. One nation. Unicorns." -Valten Dredd

Peter Godfrey has stepped down from the position of Unicorn Faction plot rep after several years of hard work and brilliant plot. We’re very sorry to lose him, though he will be staying on to play in the faction. So thanks, Peter, and enjoy your time off!
For the moment at least, I am acting Unicorn Plot rep, working with Stuart Ellis and Greg Page as my awesome team, and we have set up a new and shiny email account for anyone wanting to contact the plot team. You may now find us on Unicorn.Plot @ Googlemail.com (remove spaces first!).
This is cross posted to the LT and Unicorn Faction groups, so apologies to those who see this twice!
